About this OpportunityAs a Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance Specialist, you’ll conduct activities to support the objectives of the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Department. You will lead and administer corporate programs and processes. • Collaborate with internal and external customers and groups to ensure the success of EH&S programs and processes.
• Maintain corporate responsibility for EH&S management reviews and certification programs, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of EH&S programs as appropriate.
• Lead program for EHS Compliance Assessments and System Maturity Assessments.
• Lead and administer key EH&S programs directed toward improvement in the organization’s environmental or occupational safety impacts and the achievement of corporate environmental and safety goals. You will ensure the continuity and consistency of corporate EH&S programs and processes enterprise-wide.
• Lead and provide oversight in the development of the communications strategy that improves internal and external customers’ EH&S literacy through all forms of communication.
• Provide leadership and technical support to EH&S committees and corporate and site management teams.
• Represent Herman Miller in professional associations, speaking engagements, and customer interactions related to EH&S programs and processes.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Sound Like You?You might be just who we’re looking for if you have . . .

• A Bachelor’s degree in EH&S or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
• Five to eight years of professional EH&S experience.
• ISO 14001/ 45001 Lead Auditor Certification preferred
• A demonstrated ability to obtain professional certifications required in the EH&S field as applicable.
• Proven comprehensive knowledge and success with applying programs and processes related to essential functions.
• Demonstrated success in the field of EH&S in a process/program leadership role.
• A high degree of initiative and self-direction, a work style that is action-oriented, and a proven decision-making ability.
• Highly effective communication skills and the ability to interact with people of various social/economic backgrounds, work experiences, and education levels.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of applicable state and federal regulations.
• A demonstrated ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools used in the Herman Miller office environment.
• A proven ability to achieve results through others using and applying good interpersonal and managerial skills.
• Highly developed presentation skills.
• The ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodations.
