We are hiring a Senior Director, Strategy and Planning that will report into the President, Shoppers Drug Mart (“SDM”). As the Senior Director, Strategy and Planning you will be responsible for managing SDM divisional projects, overseeing the strategic direction and business integration of the Community Investment function, creating efficiencies in program delivery, and providing analytical insights to drive effective decision-making.
You will focus on the design, execution, and project management of SDM divisional programs and collaborate with business leads to ensure they are executed consistently across all areas of our business. What You’ll
Do: STRATEGY & PLANNING Support the President in a Chief of Staff-like capacity, through effective management of SDM’s day-to-day organizational planning processes, including for longer-term strategic priorities and projects Over-arching responsibilities include: Acting as a liaison between enterprise and divisional colleague project teams, divisional Senior Leadership team and the President, Supporting divisional Senior Leadership team through-out the decision-making process, Assisting in the planning and implementation of strategic priorities, Building new and enhancing existing planning and/ or other processes to optimize efficiency, collaboration, and productivity, and Proactively identifying and implementing best practices across the division Examples of specific duties include: Supporting the business in delivering projects by executing project management deliverables, working with relevant partners to develop the content of those deliverables, defining the project plan, including the development and measurement of key performance metrics, and creating follow up plans to sustain Provide advice and guidance to the President and Senior Leadership team regarding projects/ program roll-out, ensuring efficient process delivery approaches and effective change management principles are applied. Lead the annual strategic planning process for the division in partnership with the President and with Finance Build communication and collaboration bridges across the divisional functions and across enterprise support functions by sharing best practices; looking for opportunities to make strategic links between cross initiatives and ensuring consistency in overarching processes and systems Drive consistency in communication for program delivery and materials to create greater alignment and efficiency through program roll-out
Work with Senior Leaders to scope new initiatives, continuous improvement opportunities, and/ or business issues, and support with the development of relevant business cases Develop senior level reports and presentations to help facilitate Executive level discussions across the enterprise Lead planning and execution of key Senior Leadership team meetings and offsites, capturing action items and ensuring prompt follow-up Support employee engagement plans across your team COMMUNITY INVESTMENT (“CI”) Oversee the long-term strategic vision, objectives, and priorities for the CI function, working closely with the Director, Community Investments Develop and execute on strategic objectives and priorities focused on: Increasing both internal and external awareness of SDM CI initiatives, focused primarily on the Foundation platform of Women’s Health Equity Directing marketing, PR, and internal comms activities and resources to achieve this purpose Driving deeper integrations and engagement within our division, enterprise, and internal stakeholders Building synergies within existing partnerships and developing new partnerships with greater business integration Building sustainable and innovative revenue generation strategies and launching new platforms for giving that provide a diverse pipeline for growth Growing and innovating on existing campaigns to increase engagement and fundraising year-over-year Provide general oversight for the successful operations of the CI function, including delivery of strategic priorities, on-time and on-budget Dotted line oversight of Director, Community Investments, and CI team, including establishing objectives for performance reviews Oversight of development of annual budget and initiative roadmap, including responsibility for delivery against financial Plan, enterprise STIP metrics, and annual objectives Oversee reporting back to senior leaders of SDM, including President and Foundation Board of Directors What You’ll
Need: Post-secondary education equivalent to a University degree in business, pharmacy, or related degree 7-10 years’ experience in strategy-related roles within large, fast paced organization or in healthcare, pharmaceutical and/or retail pharmacy A seasoned Manager with strong analytical, customer service and relationship building skills with attention to detail and ability to problem solve Demonstrated ability to be strategic and thoughtful, balanced with a practical orientation and sense of urgency Strong project management skills from concept to implementation Superior verbal and written communications skills to effectively synthesize and present information to relevant stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Advanced computer skills required in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook) Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment with multiple stakeholders at different levels Strong thought leadership, business acumen, and influencing skills to lead in a matrix working environment Strong interpersonal dynamics with a proven ability to develop and leverage effective cross-functional working relationships across all levels of the organization in order to meet goals and objectives Demonstrated ability to take initiative, without close supervision Loblaw is committed to sustainability by sourcing products with integrity and making a positive difference in the community.
