AgState Looking for Precision Ag Data Manager at Storm Lake, Iowa Full Time

SUMMARY

Primary responsibility will be to identify new/prospective InSiteCDM growers, sign then up for the program, and to maintain/service these acres so they continually find value in the program. Collect, process and interpret InSiteCDM data. Work directly with customers to promote and service AgState’s InSiteCDM and agronomy research programs, work with customers to demonstrate site-specific techniques that will increase crop production, business management, and environmental stewardship. Utilize InSiteCDM specific and related software to complete these requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Work in a safe and efficient manner, according to AgState’s Safety Policy.
• Utilize good customer service skills at all times, when servicing and greeting customers, and when working with co-workers and other departments within the company.
• Work with AgState Sales Agronomists and Precision Ag technicians to identify current AgState customers that would potentially fit the requirements of the program. Set up meetings (1 on 1 meetings or group meetings) with these growers to explain the benefits of the program. Sign interested growers to InSiteCDM agreement.
• Perform “cold calls” and complete impromptu on farm meetings with noncurrent customers of AgState to find additional growers who would be interested in the CDM program.
• Work directly in the decision-making process with AgState CDM customers as it pertains to the InSiteCDM data analysis program. Maintain confidentiality of all data, recommendations, and information.
• Become proficient with proprietary tools and other software and agronomy recordkeeping methods. Create and analyze data related to fertility, crop yield, soil types, crop varieties, drainage, and other precision data.
• Collect and assist others in collecting agronomic data from crop producers pertaining to the InSiteCDM and AgState research programs. Download electronic data recorded with agricultural equipment monitors and other systems.
• Conduct one-on-one Grower Meetings at least 3 times per year to analyze the grower’s agronomic practices. Maintain frequent customer contact throughout the year using in-person visits, phone, email, text, AgriSync, and electronic newsletters/bulletins. Constantly deliver results based on the information InSiteCDM generates from their data.
• Assist in planning for, set up of and presenting at the InSiteCDM Customer Forum and “In-Season” group meetings where group data and InSiteCDM reports and tools are discussed. Lead breakout presentations of the data and topics related to the data and InSiteCDM program tools. “MC” the various events and or portions of the events.
• Demonstrate work habits that develop, build, and support the team concept within the organization.

  • Familiarity with DGPS (Differentially-corrected Global Positioning Systems).
  • Ability to read and comprehend maps.

  • General knowledge of modern production practices.
  • Build fertility recommendations based upon available data

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
