The work schedule for this position is:
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
As the Regional Driver Trainer, the incumbent is responsible to provide training not only for the U.S. Embassy Berlin, but also the constituent posts in Hamburg and Leipzig and travel to those sites may be necessary. In addition, VIP visits sometimes occur outside of Berlin and travel may be necessary to support these visits.
As part of this mixed role, the incumbent serves as the U.S. Embassy’s sole Regional Driver Trainer with additional administrative duties such as dispatching drivers, maintaining the vehicle fuel card program, and tracking driver’s medical certifications. The incumbent also serves as a chauffeur on an as-needed basis. As a certified Smith system instructor, the job holder administers the driver safety program as required by the Safety Health and Environment Management (SHEM) office of the Department and ensures 100% compliance with prescribed health and safety standards. The job holder directly conducts driver training for all professional and incidental drivers of all government vehicles under Chief of Mission authority, ensures that all drivers have the required certifications and training, and provides familiarization training for armored vehicle drivers. The Regional Driver Trainer is directly supervised by the Motor Pool Supervisor and acts as the according back-up during absences. This position may require occasional domestic and foreign travel, as well as work during non-business hours, weekends, or holidays.

One year of prior work experience as a driver trainer or managing driver training or training, instruction or teaching in a professional setting is required.
Completion of secondary school (US: High School Diploma/GED; Germany: state German school degree) is required.

– Must have a valid (German/EU), current driver’s license for Class B. (please submit front and back of the license) (German driver’s license Class C1 is necessary but not considered a required employment prerequisite.
