Apex Systems Looking for Associate Scientist/Scientist – Assay Development at Lexington, MA Full Time

Job Scope & Purpose:

Our Lexington-based biotech client is focused on treating rare diseases. They are looking for an experienced researcher to join their bioanalytical/assay development team! The successful candidate has a strong background in developing bioanalytical assays for antibody therapeutics or other large molecules, both plate- and cell-based, in a regulated environment. This position will address bioanalytical challenges associated with the measurement of large and small molecules in complex matrices, through the management of work at external partners as well as in-house assay development.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Build internal bioanalytical development capabilities suitable to support the establishment of validated bioanalytical assays
• Independently develop de novo PK, ADA, and biomarker assays for toxicology and clinical studies, including bringing in key methods and tools where relevant
• Manage assay development, transfer, troubleshooting, and validation at CROs
• Analyze data (independently and in collaboration with teams) for PK, PD, and contribute to data driven decisions and strategies to understand drug efficacy, safety, and mechanism of action

Primary Job Requirements:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience.
• Demonstrated independence of ideas and contributes to design, development and execution of research projects.
• Interprets results of complex experiments; understands and integrates data produced by other disciplines.
• May participate in company collaborations, licensing and patent discussions.
• Demonstrated skills in development of plate- and cell-based assays to measure large molecules in GLP- or GLP-like environment.
• Strong fundamental knowledge of ELISAs and reporter gene assays; experience with mass spectrometry and/or flow cytometry is a plus.
• Proven ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Previous experience training and mentoring reports is a plus.
