Job Scope & Purpose:

Our Boston based client is need of a Scientist within protein and antibody biochemistry to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, independent researcher with deep expertise in protein chemistry and biochemistry, particularly in antibody fragmentation, purification, and bioconjugation techniques as applied to a drug discovery effort. Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Develop protein(peptide) conjugation platforms to positively impact drug discovery projects.
• Participate in establishing and managing collaborations with company partners and CRO’s.
• Serve as a scientific expert in protein/antibody fragment development and purification
• Contribute to design of conjugation strategies and prepare protein/antibody conjugates with both internal and external partners.
• Independently and collaboratively identify and deliver high quality drug candidates based on protein/peptide conjugates.
• Contribute to the business development evaluation of in-license.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge of emerging protein-drug conjugate development.
• Generate novel, testable hypotheses to enable rapid, clear decision making.
• Ensure optimal interaction/communication and provide updates on project status to team members and stakeholders.

Primary Job Requirements:

• PhD in organic, or bioorganic chemistry, biochemistry
• Postdoctoral experience preferred
• A minimum of 1 year experience after PhD defense, with proven track record relevant for protein/peptides engineering and conjugation
• Deep knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry, including protein/antibody fragmentation, purification, and conjugation with payloads.
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative, innovative solutions, and meeting project objectives.
• Extensive experience in driving and supporting external teams at CRO’s.
• Proven track record of scientific contributions to projects, including co-inventorship on patents.
• (Co)-authorship on publications and presentations is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Scientific creativity, independent thought and decision-making ability.
• Outstanding written, verbal and presentations skills.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills.
