Senior Manager – Business Planning

Position summary

The Senior Manager will be responsible for leading transformative and continuous improvement across the Business Planning process area. This leader will heavily influence and drive thought leadership and action across technology, data and process for this end-to-end Business Planning process area. They will partner heavily with our organization and delivery teams to set architecture and system strategy, make technology decisions, prioritization of capability enhancements, controls and metrics for monitoring and improvements, and data and analytics enablement. This Sr Manager must be comfortable leading transformative change, gaining buy-in through influence and negotiation, and able to create and deliver on execution methodologies.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategy

• Create methodology for transformation delivery with our external partners and drive accountability within the teams
• Influence and negotiate prioritization of delivery across numerous teams
• Provide thought leadership to assist the team in aligning processes to leading practices
• Identify and monitor key metrics to understand health of Business Planning flows and progress against improvement objectives
• Set transformation objectives and align with business teams on roles and responsibilities to deliver capabilities across the end-to-end system and data flows
• Provides input for departmental budgets and work to manage operational and capital expenses to meet budget
• Organize business cases and executive level readouts; present out to Director+ levels

Technology and System

• Recommend new technology direction in collaboration with vendors, delivery teams and business; architecture will include integration with a new ERP along with relationships to operational planning, analytics and driver systems
• Understand the full end-to-end architecture and data flows across the Business Planning processes to determining opportunities for optimization and prioritization of system enhancements
• Lead technology identification activities, including RFPs with technology vendors, and interactions with upstream and downstream technologies to support business process transformation
• Drive delivery of technology solutions with vendor extension teams where existing delivery teams do not exist; heavily partner on delivery activities where delivery teams do exist
• Collaborate with Financial Control Group (FCG) and Controls group to design preventative control landscape across data flows and platforms; ensure monitoring is in place for operational and SOX controls
• Partner with our Innovative Data Services (IDS) organization to enable data accessibility and analytics for our Finance partners
• Provide thought leadership on architecture trends and understand trade-offs between solution options
• Understand technology roadmaps among delivery teams to ensure congruency of design in optimizing end-to-end business processes

Project Management

• Coordinate with multiple impacted teams to drive thoughtful project planning for delivery
• Provide guidance to vendors and FTEs on delivery approach, timelines, risks, issues, opportunities, and decision making
• Work with lead PM resources to drive content for regular status meetings and steerco meetings; take an active role in executive discussions
• Create discussion guides for team and executive decisioning on key decisions and mitigating key risks
• Manage project work and deliverables within budget and on time

Relationship and People Management

• Lead a team consisting of architecture, product management and analyst roles along with a large extended vendor team
• Partner effectively with the Finance transformation office, Finance functions, Finance teams, Financial Control Group (FCG) and Controls group
• Create alignment and consensus across broad working groups
• Oversee relationships, contracts, and escalations with multiple vendors; drive vendor product feature and function requests for future product releases.
• Manage teams to achieve results by providing appropriate direction, timely developmental feedback and coaching, and conducting performance reviews and conversations.
• Interview and hire qualified team members, striving to improve bench strength and augmenting product or project teams with contract staff when required.
• Support team in creating training and career development plans and ensures assignments with increasing levels of responsibility are given to staff.
• Provide coaching and direction to the team that drives action and enables achievement of performance and operational goals.

Additional requirements:

• Experience leading teams implementing and/or operating platforms including OneStream, SAP BPC, Anaplan or Oracle EPM planning
• Experience leading a product focused IT team to drive capability roadmap and prioritization with business stakeholders
• Understanding of control design and documentation, and SOX compliance
• Experience in change management planning and execution
• Understand and drive source data quality and architecture with a focus on automated controls
• Strong organizational skills to manage, prioritize and execute on competing activities
• Ability to negotiate between teams and reach consensus and support
• Clear and concise communication skills and able to present to executive level partners
• Ability to develop high quality deliverables, including oral, written and PPT presentations for executive communications
• Ability to delegate and guide team members

Experience and education requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Finance or related; masters degree a plus
• 7-10 years of relevant work experience in a Finance Technology capacity
• 3+ years’ experience implementing or operating solutions
• Prior experience managing team of direct reports for a Technology organization
