Apex Systems Looking for Senior/Principal Scientist, Protein Conjugation at Cambridge, MA Full Time

Job Scope & Purpose:

A new, ambitious, stealth biotech company has been launched and successfully funded by one of the top venture firms in the industry. Founded by academic and industry moguls, this Boston-based company has a new platform technology for novel, targeted and ground-breaking therapeutics for various indications.

Our client is currently seeking an exceptional individual to join our growing team as a Senior/Principal Scientist, Protein Conjugation in Boston, MA. The candidate will be a motivated, independent researcher with deep expertise in protein chemistry and biochemistry, particularly in conjugation techniques as applied to a drug discovery effort.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Develop protein(peptide) conjugation platforms to positively impact drug discovery projects.
• Participate in establishing and managing collaborations with company partners and CRO’s.
• Serve as a scientific expert in protein conjugation chemistry with both internal and external partners.
• Independently and collaboratively identify and deliver high quality drug candidates based on protein/peptide conjugates.
• Contribute to the business development evaluation of in-license.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge of emerging protein-drug conjugate development.
• Generate novel, testable hypotheses to enable rapid, clear decision making.

Primary Job Requirements:

• PhD in organic, or bioorganic chemistry, biochemistry required.
• Postdoctoral experience preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience after PhD defense, with proven track record relevant for protein/peptides engineering and conjugation
• Deep knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry, including protein conjugation with payloads.
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative, innovative solutions, and meeting project objectives.
• Extensive experience in driving and supporting external teams at CRO’s.
• Proven track record of scientific contributions to projects, including co-inventorship on patents.
• (Co)-authorship on publications and presentations is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Scientific creativity, independent thought and decision-making ability.
