Apex Systems has an opening for a REMOTE Sr Operations Engineer to support the Census Bureau.

• 6 month contract to hire
• Must be a US Citizen to obtain a Public Trust
• Bachelors Science Degree Required OR BA with Masters/ PhD
• REMOTE – Must work east coast hours
• Must have 5 years of experience including – Tomcat, Apache, and Elasticsearch, linux/ unix scripting, Agile program

• You use modern network concepts to design complex networking systems
• You enjoy implementing systems security and control procedures

You’ll love our if you… (This is the stuff you MUST have to be a fit)

• have expert experience with multilayered switch networks including routing, switching, and firewalls
• have at least 5 years of experience doing IT networking
• understand WAN/LAN, enterprise architectures, VPNs, Wi-Fi
• have a Technical degree in engineering, mathematics, management information systems, or field of study related to IT

We’ll REALLY love you if you have…. (This is the bonus stuff that makes you stand out)

• You have great knowledge of distributed systems and web applications
• You have experience with Linux and bash or shell scripting
• You have knowledge of monitoring systems such as Solarwinds
• You have good knowledge of Elastic Search or Kibana.
• You have an active Public Trust clearance

What your day will look like:

• You’ll work with other network engineers to analyze agency as-is enterprise network and Wi-Fi network to recommend new and modern network configuration
