Weekly Hours: 39
Role Number:200458217
Apple currently has an opportunity for a 6 month internship in the Failure Analysis Lab in Cork, Ireland. Within this lab, we use thermal, electrical and ultrasonic signals to non-destructively analyse circuit and triage the failure, be it an open or a short, prior to root cause analysis. Non-destructively locating a failure among hundreds sometimes thousands of components is never an easy task. This becomes even more challenging when taking into consideration the trend towards miniaturised electronic. However, our lab is equipped with state-of-art tools to facilitate this effort, e.g. Lock-In Thermography (LIT), Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM) and Computed Tomography (CT) Due to the broad range of our product lines, there is not a “one size fits all” process for our work, however there are always some patterns across cases. The focus of this project will be method development that can be used as a general guidance for a variety of samples. The ideal candidate will have some familiarity with printed circuit board (PCB) and expertise in electrical testing.
