To learn more about Berry, visit Responsibilities Responsible for keeping products neatly packaged, wrapped/palletized and labeled correctly. Ensure that all products are stored in the warehouse according to the customer specifications. Responsible for keeping warehouse clean, neat and orderly. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Material Handler consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Exemplifies the Berry Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Berry inside and outside of the plant. Work in a professional manner with other associates. Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area. Responsible for placing product in designated rows in warehouse neatly and evenly. Supply production area with needed raw materials. Assist in moving product into the print room when needed. Knowledgeable in operating stretch wrap/shrink wrap machine. Ensure labeling and packaging are correct prior to moving product into warehouse. Communicate with warehouse and production supervisors daily. Must be safety minded; satisfactory knowledge of forklift / yard dog, and safe driving practices. Responsible for daily general maintenance on forklifts, such as checking oil levels, back-up beeper, tires. Ensure proper safety measures are followed while working on / around forklifts / yard dog, and will follow safety procedures pertaining to the use of battery chargers, chocking wheels, etc. Report any forklift / yard dog maintenance needs to Manager. Must have good knowledge of both finished products and raw materials, and will be able to read and understand incoming and outgoing orders. Must understand labeling and packaging processes. Responsible for loading trucks to customer specifications; verify quantity, product, labeling and packaging is correct. Ensure correct count and correct production dates of product are pulled to the staging area for audit. General housekeeping of warehouse and dock areas. Verify work area and product (finished and raw materials) are properly and safely stored. Ensure all trucks are swept and clean prior to loading. Support inventory counts, follow pick and put away plan, accurately maintain inventory records. Use problem-solving skills to handle situations that may arise. Various other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL, SKILL, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in fast-paced warehouse environment is highly preferred. Regularly required to stand, sit, or walk for equal periods. Good hand-eye coordination is required. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Frequent exposure to production and warehouse floor; required use of PPE including but not limited to: Bump Cap, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, Hi-Viz Vest, Hearing Protection and Disposable Mask. Must be able to frequently lift, bend, and reach to perform necessary job functions. Position requires consistent attention to detail. Must be able to identify alpha / numeric product codes. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holiday and over-time. Frequently works near moving vehicles and occasionally near mechanical parts. Good communication skills verbal and written; ability to effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and suppliers. Ability to work well independently or in a team environment; displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
