At Biocair our Drivers, or Life Science Logistics Technician’s as we prefer them to be known, are a truly vital part of our organisation. They are the person our clients meet face to face, they are the people who our clients see on a regular basis and they are the people who ensure that we are successful in what we do.
This is not just any driver role, it is not just any courier role. This is one of the most crucial roles in our company where what you do will make a true impact on someone’s life. It is something you can be proud to be associated with. It is not about dropping 200 parcels in one day, it’s about ensuring you transport a select number of time critical and temperature sensitive consignments (be that medicines or a sample from a cancer patient) in a safe, careful and timely manner whilst maintaining the highest levels of customer care.

To represent the company in a manner so as to enhance our image, reputation and efficiency using the highest levels of customer care. To pack customers samples following Biocair’s procedures and observing all relevant regulations and to provide feedback to the company from customers. To drive and maintain company vehicles in a completely professional manner.
Responsibilities
Conduct on the Road
To follow all rules and codes of conduct relevant to driving, to create the best impression whilst on the road and to perform these tasks in the safest ways possible.
To drive with the utmost safety and consideration for other road users at all times.
To observe the drivers Code of Conduct at all times with respect to road safety and conduct while driving.
To obey the law at all times.
To carry a valid driving licence and Biocair security identification card at all times.
To have a clear knowledge and understanding of all accident/breakdown procedures.
To understand the hazards and safety measures for any materials carried on board.
Collection and Packing
To follow all procedures and safety regulations to enhance Biocairs image and reputation whilst at customers premises.
To act professionally at all times and uphold the reputation of Biocair at all times.
To conduct all packaging and labelling activities observing the company guidelines. Adherence to the procedures: “Ambient Packing”; “Refrigerated Packing”; “Dry Ice Packing”; “Infectious Substances Packing”; “Dangerous Goods Packing” and any other relevant procedures is mandatory.
To wear the company attire whilst performing customer collections and to be smart and presentable at all times.
To report problems with documentation and packaging immediately to specified office contacts.
To be aware of the regulations covering the transportation, labelling and packaging of hazardous substances and observe and comply with these regulations at all times.
To observe the company code of conduct at all times.
To ensure you carry all the necessary equipment and packaging.
Customer Care
To act as a representative of Biocair and to provide the highest level of customer care. To communicate the customers comments and to act as the eyes and ears of Biocair.
When meeting with a customer to act within the company code of conduct.
To attempt to meet and exceed the customer’s wishes whenever possible.
To report customer comments and observations with regard to service, price, competitors, and any other points of interest to the Company.
To observe all of our customers rules and regulations whilst on their premises and to follow all safety procedures including the wearing of their company identification card where necessary.
Vehicles
To ensure the company’s fleet of vehicles are kept in a condition so as to enhance Biocair’s reputation.
To have responsibility for the cleanliness of the vehicles (interior and exterior) to ensure each vehicle is in pristine condition and appearance at all times. To ensure that vans are washed at least once per week.
To report any faults or defects immediately to the transport manager in writing on the defect report form.
To carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks and perform simple maintenance tasks as required (changing bulbs, charging batteries).
To ensure all vehicles are locked and alarmed at all times when not being driven.
To refuel the vehicle ready for the next driver before the end of every shift (using Biocair’s diesel supply whenever possible).
Warehouse
To perform all necessary duties to maintain a clean and safe warehouse and to ensure stock levels are managed in the most efficient manner.
To monitor and actively manage the stock levels of packaging items, including conducting monthly stock checks, and report any shortfalls to the appropriate person, to ensure minimal stock levels are always maintained.
Keeping the warehouse and mezzanine clean and tidy, storing all materials in designated places.
Receiving dry ice deliveries and storing in the most effective manner so as to reduce wastage.
May be required to undertake operation of the forklift truck – to ensure correct operation and carrying out of all safety checks.
May be required to maintain and charge the batteries following the forklift charge procedure.
Company
To attend Transport department meetings and give feedback on all issues affecting the company.
To work together with the other drivers, departments and management to overcome problems and find ways to continually improve everything we do.
To attend monthly individual meetings with the transport manager to discuss progress and improve communication and feedback.
To understand and cooperate fully in the company appraisal process to aid the continuous improvement of the individual and company.
This role is 37 hours a week.
