The CHANEL Innovation Hub
The Innovation Hub in Asia Pacific will be experimenting through proof of concepts with a range of internal and external partnerships to solve for problems where solutions are unknown to the business today. It will establish this by:
Taking an outside-in perspective and developing insights to incubate, test and learn through agile iterations of experiments
Identify and shortlist partnerships that Chanel can work with and explore solutions together
Advocate and be a catalyst for driving innovation culture across Chanel through experimentation, community of practices and learning programs
The Innovation Catalyst Lead
The Innovation Catalyst Lead is a curious innovation enthusiast, strategic thinker, excellent relationship builder and collaborator and confident in managing a diverse set of priorities, people, and topics. The individual has strong program and project management skills with the ability to set a project approach, look at progress, re-prioritize, and coordinate across several in-flight projects and initiatives.
With in-depth expertise in Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design methodologies, mindset, principles and practice, the individual can lead the topic within the organization, coach others and transfer knowledge effectively. With strong relationships across the organization and effective communication skills, the individual can influence organizational change and new ways of working.
To create an innovation culture, the individual will lead and animate both a Community of catalysts and design thinkers within the Asia Pacific region. The individual needs to think of creative ways to energise and motivate the community, and explore fun ways of sharing success stories to excite the rest of the organization.
The individual’s key responsibilities will be to:
Co-partner with Senior Leaders to define the Innovation Strategy
Manage the portfolio of in-flight projects and initiatives
Manage the creation and communication of innovation insights
Manage the incubation and experimentation of new ideas
Lead new ways of working topics
As Innovation progresses and evolves, this individual will also support the identification of areas of innovation skill set integration across functions. The diversity of this challenge is broad in application, as this role will touch every division of the organization. Strong leadership, collaboration, culture shaping, consulting and facilitation and training skills are required for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Relationship Building
Connector of people and ideas to foster the Innovation Community, based on overlapping innovation interests and opportunities
Responsible for selection of internal talent for project teams, and coordinating and ad hoc internal resource needs for project-related expertise
Accountable for designing and socializing innovation stories and learnings with the wider organization
Innovation Practitioner, Facilitator and Coach
Be well-versed in the forefront of innovation approaches, tools and behaviours
Coach staff members in how to be an engaging and impactful facilitator
Able to move groups, including Asia Leadership Team members through conversations in a productive and actionable capacity
Encourage and foster agile ways of working
Support incubation teams through the ideation and funding governance processes
Collate and share learnings on what we did well, where we can improve with innovation project teams
Incubation and Experimentation Lead
Identifies and works with partners internally and externally to find new opportunities to explore
Drives the discovery, incubation, prototyping and experimentation of ideas in partnership with business divisions or corporate functions
Manages cross-functional/divisional teams through innovation journey
Responsible for managing experimentation cross-functional projects which sit in grey areas, and where there is no clear business owner. Will need to co-work with team members to develop strategies to take experimentation learnings to BAU where required
Innovation Insights and Communications
Identifies Innovation trends and technologies to explore
Works with external partners to develop relevant points of view on innovation trends and technologies
Develops and executes communication plan, covering innovation trends and initiatives to nourish APAC community
Innovation Culture and Ways of Working
Leads the community of practice for Design Thinking
Develops and experiments new ways of working including but not limited to Design Thinking
Lead the experimentation of new ways of working with teams through advising and coaching team members on appropriate project methodologies, approaches and working models
Identifies projects where the experimentation of new ways of working will support and have high impact
Manages cross-functional/divisional teams to collaborate and drive projects and new ways of working forward
Feeds the development of new ways of working to relevant groups across the organization to scale
Builds community of catalysts to embed new ways of working into the organization
Develops learning pathways in collaboration with Learning and Capabilities team
Innovation Hub Management an
Manage the status of in-flight experiments across different stages and prepare the innovation program report to share back with Innovation Advisory Board and Asia Management Committee
Innovation Strategy and PMO
Leads the development and evolution of the innovation ambition, strategy and roadmap
Manages portfolio of innovation initiatives including innovation insights and trends, innovation culture and ways of working and the incubation and experimentation of innovative ideas
Measures the success of innovation initiatives on a regular basis
Leads the Innovation Advisory Governance Forum
ROLE SPECIFICATIONS:
Academic / Professional Qualifications:
Scrum Certification (preferred but not mandatory)
Design Thinking (preferred but not mandatory)
Work Experience:
7+ years in delivering User Experience Design / Design Thinking / Business Innovation projects or a similar field
Solid project and program management experience
Sold experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders (business divisions, corporate functions and external)
Required competencies:
Leadership – Able to influence other staff members to create cultural change
Topic leader – able to lead a topic and communicate/coach others on it
Change manager – understands the important of emotional connection and empathy to driving meaningful change across the organization, enthusiastic about
Project and portfolio manager – Has experience in managing a program of smaller projects, and has the foresight to think ahead of re-prioritization needs
Social networker – Able to create meaningful relationships across the network, to identify suitable talent for innovation across different topic areas, and connect different people to create a network of support within the community
Innovation enthusiast – Passionate about innovation topics, new ways of working, and is motivated to drive continuous change around adopting agile, test and learn approaches across incubation projects (encourages project teams to learn and practice together)
