Overview
The Product Manager is responsible for the overall coordination, status reporting and stability of project oriented work efforts for business systems and works in a highly collaborative, cross-functional Agile environment. You will establish and implement project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and scope, adhere to high quality standards, and meet customer expectations. You must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies, tools, techniques, resource management practices, and change management techniques. This role is deeply technical, requiring a mixture of architectural savviness, technical leadership, operational expertise in a cloud setting as well as the ability to mark and communicate plans, manage risks and deliver to schedule. Regularly creates a service improvement plan – in terms of people, processes and technology – to improve a service.
This position is located at our corporate headquarters at 3601 Choptank Road, Preston, MD 21655.
Responsibilities
- Build Teams and inspire a strong team to always deliver their best, with passion and commitment, following best practices
- Deliver value to plan, communicating clearly, engaging product teams, third party partners, software engineers and subject matter experts across different parts of the organization
- Enable agile development best practices conformant to Hub Group standards
- Unwilling to compromise the reliability, performance, and scale of technology platform
- Operate in a cloud environment, work towards continuous delivery, understand orchestration and leverage it to guarantee uptime
- Understand that DevOps best practices start from you and your team
- Pair up with your architects and tech leads to propose and drive design decisions
- Work with business leaders to identify business needs and develop those needs into project requests
- Assist IT management with project identification, requirements gathering, scope development, budget development and management, and project prioritization
- Identify and manage change requests
- Manage and escalate functional, quality, timeline, and all other project issues
- Coordinate project communication with all areas of IT and business
- Ensure all internal controls and policies are adhered to for projects and systems change management
- Develop the strategic plan between the future-state and current-state of the platform and work with others in the IT ecosystem to develop roadmaps for the orderly transition to the future state over time.
- Ensure the technical performance of all solutions within the platform. Oversee the entire line life cycle from strategic planning to effective project management of tactical activities.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
- 7 years experience in the IT industry as a programmer, technician, engineer, or project/product manager
- 6+ years of work experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban and supporting tools
- Proven success in a leadership role with responsibility for delivery of software development projects within either technology services or software product company
- Experience building enterprise ready and cloud enabled web applications
- Experience with Service Oriented Architecture in an enterprise environment
- Experience with monitoring and alerting best practices, leveraging industry standard tools
- Experience with load testing using JMeter, Gatling or other similar frameworks to performance tune and understand an application’s performance profile
- Experience leading internal and external development resources
- Able to work in a projects-based, team environment
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Demonstrable leadership and influencing skills
- Proficient in multi-tasking and managing multiple projects
