Entry Requirements:

Candidate must –

(a) have a bachelor degree from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent; preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Translation or other related disciplines;

(b) have at least 3 years’ full-time post-graduate working experience in corporate communication, public relations, marketing, social media or public affairs (preferably related to cultural affairs) [see Note (1)];

(c) attained Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Note (2)];

(d) good knowledge and skill in software applications such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and

(e) proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese) and English [see Note (3)], and possessing good organisational, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

[Note :

(1) Candidates are requested to indicate in the section under “Full Employment Record to date” on the application form (G.F. 340 [(Rev. 3/2013)]) details of their relevant working experience and provide documentary proof. Candidates failed to provide documentary proof will not be considered as having the working experience indicated on the form.

(2) “Grade C” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.

Duties:

A Contract Assistant Media Coordinator will work in the Information and Public Relations Section. Major duties include:

(1) Assist in news and publicity work, such as writing press releases and social media publicity materials, coordinating information dissemination and media arrangements; handling publicity and promotion related administrative duties, etc.

(2) Assist in the implementation of publicity activities; and

(3) Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

[Note: Appointee(s) may be required to work irregular hours including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.]

Terms of Appointment:

Successful candidate(s) will be appointed on one-year non-civil service contract terms.

Fringe Benefits

An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted to the appointee upon satisfactory completion of the contract with a consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus the Government’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity/paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). Completed application forms, with the detailed resume, should reach the contact address on or before the closing date with the envelope clearly marked “Application for the position of Non-civil Service Contract Assistant Media Coordinator” (The postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of submission of application).
