The , , is recruiting for an Extra-Help Coordinator for the North Etiwanda Preserve (NEP). As part of a team, the NEP Coordinator ensures the protection and preservation of all native species, habitats, and natural features and ecosystems that exist in the Preserve.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform functions related to the Management plan for the NEP
Complete annual status report for NEP Management plan
Perform plant and animal surveys with associated reports as required
Work with the collaborative agencies on access to site and field surveys
Protection and preservation of Cultural Resources
Monitoring Existing Habitats, Species and Physical Conditions
Maintain an Informational Database
was established in 1998, and is a habitat preservation area, consisting primarily of a unique Riversidean Alluvial Fan Sage Scrub plant community. The Preserve is a natural habitat for the Coastal California Gnatcatcher, and has expanded to over 1200 acres.
The Preserve is located near Rancho Cucamonga, near the I15 & I210, and is approximately 30 minutes/20 miles from downtown San Bernardino.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Availability: This is an extra-help, non-regular Public Service Employee position. This position works up to 29.5 hours per week and requires availability to work evenings on a regular basis and weekends/holidays on an occasional basis. Successful candidates shall be considered at-will throughout the term of employment.
License: A valid California Class C Driver License must be provided at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
Working conditions: Must be able to frequently lift and/or carry items weighing 10 pounds and up to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend over, crawl, and perform other physical activities in the performance of job duties for this position.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Successful completion of one (1) college level class (3 semester units or higher) in Field Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Geology, Native American Studies, Botany, Ornithology, or closely related field.
Experience: Must meet one of the following options:
Option 1: Six (6) months clerical experience which includes providing customer service to the general public.
Option 2: Six (6) months experience in a maintenance role where landscaping or irrigation duties were performed.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working in a nursery or horticulture; or in a regional, state, or national park is desired. The ideal candidate will also possess experience maintaining a database and producing reports.
