Purpose of Role
Required to complete and input via EDI systems, customs entries for cargo arriving and leaving through UK ports, for both external and internal customers. This includes all aspects of Import & Export customs procedures and regulations, as described in but not limited to the detail below.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
To ensure that all documentation is completed in a correct manner and presented within the expected time frames as designated by the departmental head at any given time
All procedures and time frames described in the ‘general working procedure imports’ document must be adhered to at all times.
Update Manager with potential system problems immediately
Update customer immediately on entry completion and confirmation of costs as received from customs, when cleared against Schenker DAN. Also advised of any imposed local holds effecting planned delivery.
Update Manager on any issues causing cargo to be delayed through customs clearance on document problems especially giving cause to possible demurrage cost
All Duty and VAT invoices for which the company is liable on costs, are to be completed, and accepted on cost control along with other internal departmental responsibilities To abide to the Compliance Policies and Procedures of the Company.

In addition to this you are required to carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by your Manager.
Experience in customs clearance and knowledge of air industry desirable.
Competent with completion of at least basis home-use customs clearance procedures.
Strong Customer Service skills are essential.
Effective written and verbal communications skills.
Excellent organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and manage high workloads in challenging situations and meeting deadlines.
Ability to make considered and consistent decisions.
