DeWys Manufacturing, Inc. Looking for CNC Programmer at Marne, MI Full Time

SUMMARY

Programs CNC controlled machines. This is accomplished by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

• Will be incharge of programming turretts, lasers, robots, CNC Mill, Haeger and Romer Arm.
• Schedules all prgramming jobs for the shop floor.
• Must be capable of reading and understanding blueprints and diagrams to ensure accurate production of parts according to customer specifications. Must be able to perform individual quality inspections. Must have a good working knowledge of internal processes, procedures and documentation.
• Troubleshoot problems as they occur. Seek assistance from other team members or team leaders when needed.
• Assist in developing and implementing work center and product process improvements.
• Accomplish preventative and unplanned maintenance on all machines and equipment as required.
• Maintains all tooling, tooling inventory and equipment within the cell. This includes ordering tooling and supplies when needed and ensuring proper inventory levels are maintained.
• Assume the responsibilities required in the area of quality, scheduling, administration, training and throughput. These responsibilities include performing first piece inspections on every job, providing scheduling and administrative support, conduct individual and team training and optimize team’s ability to increase throughput within the cell.
• Reviews, prioritizes, and sequences dispatch schedules generated by the Materials and Scheduling Team to meet customer scheduled delivery dates. Identifies personnel requirements to complete the schedule for the shift. Coordinates with HR and the MTF to get additional resources if need be. Identifies to the MTF operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems in the VS to minimize costs and prevent operational delays.
• Communicates daily with the WVSL from the opposite shift: the dispatch schedule; WIP part status; quality issues; workload; and necessary information to ensure optimal throughput and quality for the next shift.
• Maximizes VS utilization by defining action items (individual or for the team) in meeting and exceeding the area’s target.
• Maximizes VS quality measures (customer and internal) by defining action items in meeting and exceeding the company target.
• Maximizes VS 6S measures by defining action items in meeting and exceeding the company target.
• Interpret drawings to write programs for CNC machines that include proper methodology, tooling, cutting speeds and feeds in order to generate quality parts in accordance with production standards.
• Create setup sheets based on tooling selection criteria.
• Monitor and verify the accuracy of each job’s intial set-up and final outcome.
• Revise programs and documentation based engineering changes.
• Maintain library of programs.
• Communicates with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
• Follows all safety and work rules as outlined in the team member handbook.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of one (1) year experience operating manual machines or CNC machines in a heavy manufacturing environment and one (1) year experience directly related to CNC programming.
• Working knowledge of use of computer software to include, but not limited to Microsoft Exel, Microsoft Word, AutoCAD, Camworks, Stryker software, robotic software and any off line programming.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Needs to be able to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, work rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Needs to be able to properly complete travelers for all jobs performed. Needs to be able to communicate effectively with fellow team members.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Needs to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Needs to be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus. Must be capable of calculating bend allowances and performing other mathematical calculations as required. Needs to be able to read calipers, protractor, height gauge, square and tape measure.

Needs to be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Needs to be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License to be licensed as a qualified lift truck driver at DeWys Manufacturing, Inc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand and walk. Team member will be required to reach with hands and arms and to use hands to finger, handle or feel parts. Team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and frequently move over 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distant visions (clear vision at 20 inches or less to 20 feet or more). Peripheral vision (Needs to be able to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point). Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, Needs to be able to judge distance and spatial relationships).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud requiring hearing protection to be worn at all times. Welding helmets must be worn at all times when performing welding operations. While performing grinding operations, appropriate masks must be worn. Safety glasses must also be worn at all times by team members. Must be adaptable to changing work environment, competing demands and is able todeal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.

Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedules.
