Educated Choices Program Overview: The Educated Choices Program (ECP) is a
501(c)3 academic program that educates teens and adults through digital presentations about the impact of their food choices on their health, the environment, and all that inhabit it. ECP’s digital programs are currently expanding to Central and South America, offering professionally narrated videos and additional learning materials to secondary and post-secondary educators, as well as community audiences.

Purpose: Assist in the social media content creation and review for our digital education program for Spanish-speaking audiences.

Location: 100% Remote (in Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Peru, or Colombia)

Type: Independent Contractor

Schedule: Flexible, 10 hours/week

Start Date: ASAP, ideally week of 9/5

End Date: 12/16/2022

Purpose of the Program: Assist in the social media content creation and review for our digital education program for Spanish-speaking audiences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicate with the Director of Communication and the Latin American Engagement Manager as primary points of contact for receiving work assignments and providing regular updates on task/project completion

• 10 hours per week

• Time of day and days worked are flexible

• Provide availability via email to respond to management communications

• Schedule and attend meetings with ECP point of contact, typically weekly, to discuss progress/projects/updates

• Create unique content and translate existing content to produce a greater awareness about ECP, and to support teachers, students, and community members while ensuring brand consistency

• Create, maintain, and grow new and existing social networks, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and others

• Research ways to increase engagement and reach on all platforms

• Generate text and graphics and provide additional ideas to support existing social media calendar

• Potential to research media contacts and assist in the distribution of press releases and other marketing materials

• Evaluate and assist with field communication and materials

• Work with the Communication Director and Latin American Engagement Manager to increase the success of outreach campaigns

• Support the development of outreach strategies to highlight environmental/health holidays and communication based on LatAm countries

• Assist leadership with program planning, evolution and growth

• Work with and communicate with other departments as needed and required for program development

• Assist in tracking relevant emerging studies in the areas of plant-based diets, new food technologies, farmed animal welfare, health and wellness statistics, environmental research connected to eating trends, and also keep abreast of high profile public figures and celebrities endorsing such lifestyles and ideologies

• Responsibly promote ECP as the consummate food systems education program and represent ECP as a supportive, collaborative, fair-minded organization with high standards of excellence and in alignment with our mission

Qualifications and Requirements:

• (Prefered) Personal interest in one or more of the following areas: Education, Environment, Health, Food Systems.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Bilingual in Spanish and English required

• Two years of social media management experience preferred

• Ability to design in Canva or other graphic design software

• Proficient in computer skills, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite

• Experience identifying and creating campaigns for target audience

• Excellent analytical and time-management skills

• Experience with Hootsuite, Sprout Social, HubSpot or other scheduling software

TAREAS Y RESPONSABILIDADES

Las responsabilidades de este cargo incluyen:

• Mantenerse en contacto con la Directora de Comunicaciones y la Coordinadora de Latinoamérica para recibir tareas y dar actualizaciones periódicas sobre el avance de los proyectos asignados.

• Jornada de 10 horas a la semana, días y horarios siempre flexibles

• Proporcionar disponibilidad por correo electrónico para coordinar la oportuna comunicación con la gerencia.

• Asistencia a reuniones con equipo directo en ECP, generalmente una vez a la semana para discutir progreso/proyectos/actualizaciones

• Crear contenido único y traducir contenido existente, para dar a conocer la propuesta de ECP de manera consistente entre maestros, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad.

• Crear, mantener y potenciar las redes sociales existentes de ECP, incluyendo Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram, Facebook y otras.

• Investigar maneras de aumentar el compromiso de nuestra audiencia y el alcance en nuestras plataformas.

• Elaborar textos, material gráfico, e ideas que apoyen nuestro calendario de publicaciones en redes sociales.

• Recopilar contactos en medios y asistir en la distribución de comunicados de prensa y otros contenidos de marketing.

• Evaluar y asistir en comunicación y materiales

• Trabajar con la Directora de Comunicación y la Coordinadora de Compromiso de América Latina para aumentar el alcance de las campañas de difusión..

• Apoyar el desarrollo de las estrategias comunicativas, para aprovechar efemérides latinoamericanas relacionadas a medio ambiente y salud.

• Asistir a gerencia con la planificación, evolución y crecimiento del programa

• Trabajar y mantener comunicación con otros departamentos de ECP según sea necesario para el desarrollo del programa.

• Asistir con el seguimiento de estudios relevantes y recientes en materia de alimentaciones en base a plantas, nuevas tecnologías alimentarias, bienestar de animales de granja, estadísticas de salud y bienestar, investigación medioambiental relacionada a tendencias alimenticias, y también mantenerse al tanto de figuras públicas de alto perfil o celebridades que apoyan estos estilos de vida e ideologías.

• Promover responsablemente ECP como el programa consumado de educación en sistemas alimentarios, y representar a ECP como una organización solidaria, colaborativa e imparcial con altos estándares de excelencia y alineada con nuestra misión.

Calificaciones y Requisitos:

• Deseable interés personal en una o más de las siguientes áreas: educación, medio ambiente, salud, sistemas alimentarios.

• Excelentes habilidades comunicativas verbales y escritas.

• Se requiere ser bilingüe en Español e Inglés.

• Preferible contar con dos años de experiencia en manejo de redes sociales.

• Habilidad de diseñar en Canva o cualquier otro software de diseño gráfico.

• Habilidades proficientes en computación, Google Suite y Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experiencia identificando y creando campañas para audiencias objetivo.

• Excelentes habilidades analíticas y de administración del tiempo.

• Experiencia con Hootsuite, Sprout Social, HubSpot u otros softwares de organización de tiempo.
