Remote Proofreader/Editor

Looking for several detail-oriented, seasoned, legal proofreaders to assist in finalizing legal transcripts for multiple contracts. This is a contract position where you can set your own hours.

The responsibilities of the proofreader/editor position include:

• Proofreading and editing documents to ensure that they meet all of the client’s quality standards
• Meeting deadlines to ensure that documents are delivered to the client on time
• Listening to audio while reviewing documents for accuracy
• Providing constructive and meaningful feedback to transcribers

Required:

• Excellent spelling and grammar skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to take direction well
• Great organizational skills
• Ability to work independently to meet deadlines
• Must be able to type at least 60 words per minute
• Intermediate computer skills
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word
• Access to consistent high-speed internet on a Windows-based PC with recent version of Microsoft Word
• Must be able to commit to at least 20 hours per week
• High school diploma (or equivalent)

Preferred:

• Familiarity with legal terminology
• Proofreading and/or editing experience
• Excellent Internet research skills

Compensation:

As an independent contractor you will be paid a page rate that is comparable to $13 to $20 per hour. In addition, you will be eligible for bonuses, promotions, and referral rewards. Payments are made via direct deposit weekly.
