The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (www.fraunhofer.com) currently operates 76 institutes and research institutions throughout Germany and is the world’s leading applied research organization. Around 30 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 2.9 billion euros.
The Fraunhofer ITWM is one of currently 76 institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V. (Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research) and can thus draw on the competences of a strong network. As the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM, we see our task in further developing key technologies, providing innovative impulses and implementing them in practice together with industrial partners. In doing so, we do not only want to build the bridge between the real and virtual world ourselves, but also be the link between university mathematics and its practical implementation. That is why the close connection to the Department of Mathematics at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau plays a special role.
What you will do
CAE-based methods are continuously accelerating the vehicle development process. Virtual vehicle models, controlled by virtual drivers, ride over the digital road surface of OEM proving grounds. A key component in the load transfer process is the tire, therefore the accuracy and reliability of virtual load prediction critically depends on the quality of the underlying tire model.
The division of Mathematics for Vehicle Development (MF) at the Fraunhofer ITWM in Kaiserslautern develops the tire simulation software CDTire, which, as a component of modern MBS programs, supports the development engineer in almost all analysis scenarios.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a highly motivated employee with a strong tendency towards engineering, applied mathematics, mechanics, and computer science, especially in the area of modeling and simulation of complex mechanical and physical systems, ideally from the automotive environment.
