The Production Manager is mainly responsible for ensuring all production operations are processed safely and efficiently and maintaining a sanitary environment meeting all food safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Responsible for all daily activities of assigned department.
* Serve as management point of contact with internal personnel in Sales & Marketing, Orders, Finance & Accounting, Production, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Maintenance Departments.
* In coordination with the department director, evaluate multiple options to make sound decisions and achieve revenue goals.
* Responsible for employee and production scheduling of assigned departments.
* Responsible for timely completion of daily production paperwork.
* Actively participate, and lead employee training sessions.
* Monitor daily staff availability and work shift schedules.
* Communicate daily to assigned team members through daily “Huddle” meetings.
* Lead by example, by following Safety procedures, and training employees to do the same.
* Follow all Food Safety procedures, including HACCP & SQF policies. Teach the team to do the same.
* Utilizing a Timekeeping System to maintain a weekly record of hours worked, along with an explanation of overtime hours worked, and ensure hours worked, vacation, personal hours, absences, etc. are correctly documented reviewed, and approved accurately.
* Employ Lean Manufacturing principles to assigned areas of responsibility.
* Strive to achieve or exceed company Labor and Material KPIs.
* Must be available to lead assigned area of responsibility on weekends and holidays as the business dictates.
* Act as Backup to Plant Manager as needed.
* Manage staff to ensure compliance with all Company procedures and policies as well as all state and federal regulations.
* Oversee preparation of performance reviews including disciplinary process when necessary.
* Leader in coordinating and managing production tasks to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction for fulfillment of orders.
* Lead the deployment and implementation of continuous improvement of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce.
* Facilitate effective information sharing across production teams, planning maintenance, and warehouse and customer service to ensure customer deadlines are met.
* Manage and direct maintenance of load capacity equipment.
* Coordinate directly with internal employees and meet expectations against operational capabilities.
* Problem-solve and develop corrective actions to enhance operational performance.
* Conduct recruiting of new hires to determine personnel needs; including but not limited to department orientation, job training, and development.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma or GED
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field
* USDA Food Industry Experience.
* HACCP & SQF Experience.
