Electrical Controls Engineer – with potential to be Senior level based on experience

The Electrical Controls Engineer, is responsible for the design and development of the hardware and PLC based software programming utilized in the automated assembly and test equipment that fulfill our customer’s requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with technical software design for semi-automated/automated industrial manufacturing and test systems, including advanced systems integration, using programmable automation and robotics.
• Supports hardware design as needed.
• Supports scope definition, develops proposals and creates efficient and effective designs for clients.
• Assists with executing design and programming of PLC Applications as applicable to PLC’s, HMI’s, Robotics, Vision Systems and Data Acquisition systems.
• Assists with the development of project-related documentation including schedules, bill of materials, drawings, schematics, specifications and cost estimates.
• Works in a collaborative team environment to develop standard methods and designs to deliver world-class solutions that provide reliable and efficient automation operating systems.
• Provides troubleshooting support utilizing problem solving techniques during initial start-up, customer acceptance testing and installation of the systems at the customer location.
• Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Ability to travel overnight, as needed, to install and service equipment. Must be able to travel by car or air as needed (domestic and international).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent – Majors in: Controls and Computer Control Systems, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, Physics, etc.)
• At least 1 year of experience in custom automation, control systems and electrical design and development preferred

SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:

• Software development experience using PLC ladder logic with Rockwell and/or Siemens required
• Software development experience using C#, C++, VB.Net preferred
• Experience with optics, illumination and camera interfaces preferred
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong computer skills. Understanding of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and e-Drawings preferred
• Self-motivated, organized, strong attention to details and a good communicator
• Works independently and accurately with minimal supervision utilizing proficient organizational and time management skills
• Possesses a sense of pride your work and conducts oneself in a professional and customer-centric fashion
