Education Manager

• Reports to: Head of Operations
• Role Type: Education Manager (specific purpose contract)
• Remuneration: €30,000 – €35,000
• Location: Flexible but travel to Waterford expected

GIY is looking for an Education Manager to lead our education campaigns and programmes. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will have responsibility for delivery GIY’s current education programmes and campaigns (GROW at School & Let’s GROW), as well as continuous development of GIY’s school resources.

In 2021, we supported over 1,000,000 people around the world to grow their own food and develop more sustainable food choices. GIY employ over 30 people based at GROW HQ in Waterford, which is the home of the GIY movement and includes a 65-seat café, shop, grow school, cookery school and food garden. Specific Purpose Contract

This role is funded through a philanthropic partnership; therefore, we are offing a 2-year Specific Purpose Contract. This funding is subject to yearly funder reviews, but there is potential for a permanent role once the Specific Purpose Contract has ended.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead GIY’s school campaigns and programmes, from development to implementation and evaluation, including regular reporting for in house and stakeholder use
• Liaise with teachers, students, facilitators, stakeholders, and clients, acting as their point of contact in GIY
• Lead on school recruitment and selection, and liaise with Operations for distribution
• Develop and manage communication campaigns including emails, large scale send-outs and phone calls
• Create and coordinate curriculum-supporting resources for all GIY school activities
• Support and contribute to business development efforts including pitches, research, and costings
• Lead the design, collection and analysis of feedback and impact data, ranging from surveys to focus groups and one-to-one interviews
• Create and maintain project records and databases
• Coordinate the development and delivery of GIY’s online Teacher Training Programme, including project planning, production of materials, review and reports
• Assist event preparation and delivery as part of the event crew (nationwide, in-person and virtual)

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone results-driven, creative with strong commercial skills and a growth-oriented mindset. The ideal candidate will believe in GIY’s vision, share GIY’s values and have the following qualifications and experience:

• 2-3 years’ experience in project management (timelines and budget management) or a related field
• Has a strong understanding of the Education landscape in Ireland (schools, curriculum, teaching communities, educational trends, policies)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• A flexible, positive, energetic, resourceful person who can succeed in a busy environment and as part of a dynamic team
• Team player who values integrity and respect

Not necessary, but would be advantageous

• Experience in digital/social media marketing
• A qualification in communications, education or project/business management
