The Senior IT Business Analyst is an essential role in the development of software application solutions used by Gordon Food Service. The Senior Business Analyst works closely with change agents and end users to understand the processes a technology solution will enable and then translates those into artifacts used by application development teams to create and deliver a solution. The Senior Business Analyst engages in projects of all sizes from a small domain-specific project to a large enterprise project spanning multiple domains.

What you will do:

• Elicit domain requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
• Document and critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources to understand user requests and reconcile application conflicts within a domain to recommend solutions. Decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to identify the underlying true needs of the user requests.
• Proactively communicate and collaborate with customers (external and internal) to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver artifacts (e.g. Business Requirements, Use Cases, GUI designs, etc.) as needed.
• Successfully engage in multiple large initiatives simultaneously.
• Mentor less-experienced business analysts.
• Occasionally serve as the project team leader
• Work independently with users to define domain concepts and in collaboration with project managers and project team leaders.
• Drive and challenge business users on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.
• Create functional test cases among all applications of a domain, and between domains.
• Facilitate user acceptance testing.
• Serve as a conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
• Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.
• Collaborate with developers and act as a subject matter expert to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
• Be a liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Leading candidates will have:

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required.
• Five to eight years previous analysis or software development experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of current technologies
• Strong commitment to software quality
• Proven analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
• Solid customer focus, teamwork, innovation, creativity, and relationship building
• Ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems and reference established precedents and policies.
• Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
