This is a long-term contract position which offers:
TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:
(1) Examine, evaluate, test, and provide critical assessment of new and emerging software tools for the tasks of managing, sharing, accessing, preserving, and discovering data.
(2) Routinely track application and system demands and propose new off the shelf or custom products and applications to improve usability.
(3) Perform routine database and supporting technology assessments and test solutions to increase performance, increase data security and improve user experience.
(4) Examine, evaluate, test, and provide critical assessment of new and emerging software tools for the tasks of managing, sharing, accessing, preserving, and discovering data.
(5) Routinely track application and system demands and propose new off the shelf or custom products and applications to improve usability.
(6) Configures and implements a variety of security protocols to ensure protection of data on systems hosting medical and research data.
(7) Coordinate with security and privacy officers to establish and maintain security and privacy policies, controls and monitoring protocols for all data storage and retrieval tools, applications, systems and equipment.
(8) Maintain patching and updates to network, server and platforms running or supporting data applications and services supporting operations and research.
(9) Coordinates with operations and research managers to develop standardized, Institute-wide data management plan to serve as outline for individual protocol-specific data management plans.
(10) Develop and maintain database and database management technology maintenance, upgrade and replacement schedule and align with organizational information technology management maintenance and investment schedules.
(11) Coordinate with research staffs to assess future research plans and predict future demand, volume and utilization and recommend upgrades and investments to support uninterrupted operations.
(12) Routinely collect user feedback to proactively identify limitations of existing database and database management inventory and recommend enhancements.
(13) Develops training materials, organize training sessions and coordinate delivery schedules with management to ensure users have the most up to date knowledge of database procedures to support their work.
(14) Provide one on one support to users requesting assistance to resolve issues or improve their skills conducting data searchers, statistical operations within designated tools and reporting and dashboarding applications.
(15) Mentor new database administrators as necessary to ensure quality service and optimized database performance.
(16) Perform routine database backups to ensure data integrity and ad hoc recovery using complex tools and applications.
(16) Perform central database maintenance and routine upgrades, enhancements and modifications in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
(17) Monitor database usage and performance and schedule necessary improvements.
(18) Routinely audit existing data stores, monitor application and system performance, and utilization to identify issues and risks and take corrective actions.
(19) Tests new or modified computer applications, off-the-shelf products, and existing software
(20) Develop and implement a variety of application and system interfaces through both standard and customized means to allow for increased centralized access and data sharing.
(21) Coordinate database storage and retrieval requirements with information technology (IT) network and server managers.
(22) Assist users troubleshoot and resolve issues.
(23) Perform routine database and supporting technology assessments and test solutions to increase performance, increase data security and improve user experience.
(24) Research, write and implements upon approval disaster recovery plans in accordance with operational and research requirements and to align with organizational IT continuity of operations plans.
(25) Research, write and implement upon approval database development, monitoring and evaluation, recovery and enhancement standard operating procedures (SOP) and ensure alignment with organizational IT processes and procedures.
(26) Research, write and distribute job aids, training guides, user manuals and cheat sheets to assist users access, search and retrieve data from databases.
(27) Assess scientific research plans and identify opportunities to standardize data collection, storage and retrieval methodologies.
(28) Documents technical specifications and database management architecture following industry best practices and maintains version control.
(29) Routinely assesses data repositories and management systems and identifies opportunities to centralize storage to reduce overall technology inventory and to optimize data investment.
REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:
(1) Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
(2) Experience with: Database management, Data annotation, Data cleaning, Research, Data visualization
(3) Experience with Statistics software package (R, Matlab, SPSS, SAS)
