Hi,

I’m Anne Marie, Blog Editor & Strategist for Lost & Lore, a travel content brand teaching others how to make the most of travel, live as a digital nomad, and revamp their life to make more time for the things that matter. We also share stories about our own adventures.

The team is made up of folks from all walks of life traveling the world in various ways. Each with their own experiences to share, all with a common love of travel and living a minimalistic lifestyle, to have time to focus on the important things in life.

We’re working toward monetizing our YouTube channel and other streams of content traffic. We’ve recently launched a blog to help drive traffic to our YouTube channel, and we need your help to make it happen.

The majority of our needs entail writing city guides designed to help other travelers understand what to expect from a location before arriving. These guides will be largely ghost-written, without direct attribution. However, you will be included on our Lost & Lore team page after a successful relationship has been established.

The job in a nutshell

As a Guide and blog writer, you will be responsible for thoroughly researching and writing one city or country guide per week. You will only be asked to write about places that at least one person on the team (yourself included) has visited, so you will receive some guidance, but it’s likely you will have never personally visited most of the locations.

You’ll need to be able to predict what might interest the readers (travelers), answering questions and concerns they might have. Ideally, this means you’ve traveled enough to get in the mind of other travelers.

You must be able to write engaging content while following a consistent structure provided by me. Keep in mind, many places already have guides floating around on the internet: your content must be unique and engaging as well as grammatically and factually correct.

You’ll spend time on the following

• Conducting in-depth research to create original guide content
• Using SEO knowledge to ensure posts have the best chance to rank and drive results
• Following guidelines and checklist for creating posts
• Implementing feedback from me to ensure your pieces align with my expectations

We ask you to include things like the following in each guide:

• Links to locations, other articles, etc.
• Title and description tags
• On-page SEO considerations

Here’s what we’re looking for

• You are inspired and excited by travel and you enjoy sharing that experience with others
• You are self-motivated and results-driven, with a genuine passion for writing well
• You have the ability to suck in a reader, encouraging them to continue reading content that could easily be seen as boring
• You have no problem pumping out 4,000-word articles
• You can write concise, educational, and friendly content, in American English.
• Your grammar is impeccable yet modern
• You’re not afraid to include a bit of humor in your writing.
• You loathe passive voice, unnecessarily complex sentences, and fluff.
• You’re able to follow strict formatting and outline guidelines.
• You have proven knowledge of SEO optimization and you’ve had success making it to page one of the SERPs.
• Noticing a typo in your own work after submitting it to an editor makes you cringe. You must proofread your own content for errors and inconsistencies before sending it for approval or it will be sent back to you.
• You truly believe in using the Oxford comma.
• You handle feedback well, asking for clarification if you don’t understand it.
• You aren’t afraid to politely push back if you don’t agree with the way something is being done.
• You’re familiar with Google Docs
• You ask questions if you’re unsure about something, but you’re also not afraid to make a decision and accept whatever results might come from that decision.
• You know how to express emotions without the need for an abundance of exclamation points

Bonus points if…

• You’re also a traveler and want to contribute your own experiences to our guides collection
• You have knowledge of the Hemingway App, Grammarly, and Notion
• You understand how much formatting can affect the readability of web content, and you know how to make use of it.
• You’re able to write more narrative content. Sometimes we want to write stories about specific experiences we’ve had. If you can take one of our YouTube videos and create a compelling article for it, fabulous!
