Job Family:
Laboratory Services
Roles in this job family are responsible for managing or performing work in some or all of the following areas; assisting scientists and engineers in lab environment (collect sample, perform biological or chemical analysis), setting controlled research experiments, day to day coordination or lab projects.
Microbiology
Microbiology work includes:
- Carrying out studies in the growth, structure, development, and general characteristics of bacteria and other microorganisms
- Isolating and producing cultures of microorganisms to identify them and to observe their action upon living tissues and dead organic matter of animals, plants, and other microorganisms •Conducting chemical analysis of substances such as acids, alcohol, and enzymes
- Evaluating new substances prior to their initiation into clinical and/or toxicological investigations by verifying activity
