The Analytics Center of Excellence (COE) team are responsible for developing analytics-driven solutions across Meijer’s organization to help enhance decision quality, improve efficiency, enrich the customer experience and drive value. The Associate Manager – Data Science is a leadership role in an Agile environment, responsible for developing a high functioning team while coaching analysts at various levels to support skills development and career growth. The Associate Manager – Data Science is responsible for planning and managing all projects within assigned areas to deliver business value. **Position follows hybrid schedule: Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remote.** . What You’ll Be Doing: Deliver material impact to the organization’s performance though: providing advanced analytical support for Meijer leadership teams; identifying and championing analytics-based business opportunities; developing analytic approaches & reports that improve the efficiency and impact of the Meijer organization. Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics & data science including customer segmentation, optimization, predictive analytics, prescriptive analytics, and machine learning algorithms & recommendations to solve business problems. Manage a team of high performing Data Scientists & Advanced Analysts working within an Agile framework. Lead talent development, including active coaching to support team member’s technical and functional skills and career growth. Develop and maintain an analytics roadmap that supports business objectives. Manage relationships with business partners and external vendors. Assess project viability and recommend strategies and tactics to satisfy customer needs. Manage the execution and delivery of projects. Provide direction to project teams and integrate activities with other Analytics & IT functions to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts. Facilitate the removal of agile train blockers and impediments. Ensure that application systems are developed in a way that complies with security and architectural standards and established methodologies. Monitor, communicate and report to Analytics, IT and user/customer management on the status of multiple, concurrent project efforts. Responsible for identifying and hiring top talent. What You Bring with You (Qualifications): Advanced Degree (MA/MS, PhD) in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or related quantitative field. 6+ years of relevant advanced analytics & data science experience in an applied role – preferable w/in retail, logistics, supply chain or CPG. Advanced and hands-on experience using: Python, Databricks, Azure ML, Azure Cognitive Service, SAS, R, SQL, PySpark, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, AutoTS, Prophet, NLTK. Experience with Azure Cloud technologies including Azure DevOps, Azure Synapse, MLOps, GitHub. Solid experience working with large datasets and developing ML/AI systems such as: natural language processing, speech/text/image recognition, supervised and unsupervised learning models, forecasting and/or econometric time series models. Demonstrated leadership skills and possessing a track record of managing technical staff (cross-functional experience highly desirable). Familiarity managing budgets and understanding impact of financial decisions to P&L. Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: Demonstrated ability to build and develop teams Demonstrated strong abilities in relationship management Exposure to a wide variety of project management methodologies and frameworks with a deep understanding of agile development methodologies Have successfully developed and implemented analytic applications in new computing architecture environments using new and emerging technologies Demonstrated ability to manage multidiscipline, high-performance work teams and development groups Demonstrated competency in the execution of multiple projects, including managing resources across multiple projects to meet goals.
