The Merchandising Training Specialist delivers, implements and evaluates high-quality Merchandising learning programs that meet the learning needs of team members, leaders and cross functional partners. The Merchandising Training Specialist will also be responsible for helping to facilitate our Train the Trainer program by supporting the certification and coaching of our business trainers. The Business Training Specialist applies industry leading practices as well as internal standards to develop high quality, effective training content through various training formats (e.g., Digital Self-Led classes, Instructor Led classes – in-person, hybrid, and virtual, recorded training videos, etc.). This role will also play a part in driving the success of our Merchandising talent development programs (e.g., Business Analyst Training program, Merchandising internship program, etc.). . What You’ll be Doing: Consult with key stakeholders to identify job tasks and knowledge/performance/process gaps including but not limited to Merchandising and planning system process needs. Deliver, implement and support learning programs corporate wide to ensure team members have skills, knowledge and expertise to perform in their role. Utilize software such as Articulate 360, Vyond, Storyline, Snagit, and Adobe Creative Suite to design and/or edit online courses. Serve as an expert resource for facilitation of content to build readiness in the cross functional business partners responsible for delivering learning in the Merchandising and Planning areas. Work closely with Subject Matter Experts and Business partners to design, develop, and implement a variety of training materials.Conduct learning needs analysis to identify the knowledge, skills and competencies required to complete job tasks efficiently and effectively. Perform general Learning Management System Coordinator tasks including class attendance, dropping learners, scheduling classes, general reporting, etc. Support Training Team’s talent development programs (Business Analyst Training Program, Merchandising Internship Program) as appropriate. Ensure pre-work, follow up activities and surveys are launched for course preparation, reinforcement of learning, and statistical analysis. Facilitate Train the Trainer and certification events for business partners responsible for delivering learning within Meijer’s Merchandising organization. Use positive reinforcement and adult learning techniques to promote learning and skill improvement. Build strategic partnerships with organizational leadership. Collaborate with others including Compliance and Human Resources to ensure all learning programs align to support strategic business goals while building organizational capability. Participate in special projects, including the piloting of new and emerging learning technologies, learning effectiveness, Process design/changes and course delivery. Support multiple projects to achieve project goals and meet deadlines. What You Bring with You (Qualifications): Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience with emphasis in adult learning or education related discipline.3-5 years of experience in training delivery, large group facilitation, virtual, online, hybrid learning process design and facilitation certification of others in corporate learning environments. Familiarity with instructional design strategies and technologies, including experience with Articulate 360 Applications or other learning software. Experience with a Learning Management System – Workday preferred. Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of adult learning theories and principles. Demonstrated experience in partnering with business/organizational leaders, learning consultants and facilitators to translate business objectives into effective learning solutions. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to facilitate meetings and/or training. Ability to effectively organize work, prioritize and manage time in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team.
