For this Instructor position, the department seeks an experienced educator who is comfortable teaching core curriculum topics in biochemistry and molecular biology, including hands-on laboratory courses covering fundamental biochemistry and molecular biology techniques. The position comes with an expectation that the successful applicant will be committed to developing courses for distance education and will be engaged with core curriculum development. The expected teaching load for this 9-month position is 3-3 with a substantial student advising commitment. There will be opportunities for additional teaching employment in the summer.

The Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology & Plant Pathology is a comprehensive department with an academic, research and service mission. The Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the College of Agriculture and Life Science, and currently advises approximately 450 undergraduates and 60 graduate students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Instructor will teach service and core curriculum courses in biochemistry and molecular biology as directed by the department head. Specific duties will include teaching of at least 3 course sections in each regular semester and could include laboratory setup and laboratory material preparation as required for the assigned courses. The opportunity to teach courses in the summer for additional pay may be available as will the development of new courses for distance education in consultation with the department head and faculty. Primary responsibility for advisement of freshman/sophomore Biochemistry majors in pre-professional concentrations.
Ph.D. degree in relevant biological discipline with major course work and laboratory experience in Biochemistry and/or Molecular Biology. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in teaching and an interest in the pedagogy of teaching laboratory-intensive undergraduate life sciences curricula. Applicants should possess a strong sense of personal initiative and a willingness to explore new approaches to interdisciplinary, collaborative education. ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS):
Demonstrated experience in teaching laboratory skills in biochemistry and molecular biology at the undergraduate level, and the desire to innovate in the delivery of these skills to students.
