Director Infrastructure Monitoring Systems

Reporting to the Senior Director of Asset & Event Management, the Director of Event Management Integrations provides tactical direction to the Event Management operational team and integration engineers.

Job Description:

• Accountable for designing and executing highly technical solutions for end to end monitoring integrations;
• Ensure that all device classes are configured to meet requirements and controls;
• Explore integration with advanced technologies to elevate DoITT’s enterprise telemetry;
• Ensure the timely migration and sunset of non-essential or deprecated solutions;
• Provide direction for application monitoring and directly manages monitoring architects to solution complex integrations in alignment with Event Management policies and correlation;
• Directly manage staff, who are responsible for developing solutions, executing roll out plans for large deployments, configuring custom integrations for various device and application classes;
• Conduct operational readiness turnover (includes ensuring licensing and scaled environments are managed within the operations);
• Provide Level 3 support to event management operations as an escalation path for complex event management problems;
• Required to work directly with vendors on solutions and manage case level escalations;
• Provide requirements and implementation of the event management module in ServiceNow.

Preferred skills:

• 8+ years managing a production Operations team including supervisory experience;
• Diverse experience implementing Event Management processes; creative, innovative, flexible, resilient and strategic Operations thinker;
• Ability to execute and perform the technical discovery, design, and deployment deliverables for the designated systems for the Operational Dashboards;
• Experience conducting deep dive assessments and documentation of technical requirements, architecture designs, configuration, and integrations;
• Extensive technical background covering all aspects of system implementation and integration with an enterprise IT production environment;
• 5+ years in the following: technical knowledge and understanding of web applications and web designing using one or more of the following: Flash, XML, JavaScript, previous system administration or design experience with Microsoft SQL, SQL queries;
• Demonstrated ability to motivate, cultivate both internal staff, as well as external customer relationships;
• Excellent communication skills with strong documentation skills and strong attention to detail;
• Strong understanding of new technology trends;
• Proven experience as a data and results driven manager;
• Ability to make critical decisions, and prioritize work accordingly;
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines;
• Experience in working for a large municipal government;
• Experience with CMDB data model and asset classifications;
• Platform management and administration of Sciencelogic, ThousandEyes, Dynatrace, IBM Netcool, Netscout and Quest NetIQ;
• ITILv3 or ITIL4 certification;
• Experience interfacing with executive level management;
• Experience managing multiple monitoring tools; and integrations;
• Experience working with discovery tools such as BMC ADDM and ServiceNow.

Qualification Requirements: 

1. A bachelors degree in computer science or related field and 4 years experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering ‘and/or’ management of infrastructure;

2. 8 years experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering ‘and/or’ management of infrastructure;

-or-

4. Education and/or experience equivalent.
