We are hiring a Leader, Product Engineering Team to plan and manage engineering design and product development for specific product groups. You will delegate assignments, set direction, and review engineering work associated with product projects. Additionally, you will ensure both new and current product designs meet quality and cost criteria through systematic and innovative development processes. Along with your staff of product engineers, designers, and drafters, you will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to set and achieve strategic direction.
Who You Are:
• Experience designing and costing the following component typologies: comfort surfaces, mechanisms, metal components, and plastic parts (blow molded, injection molded, thermal formed, etc.)
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of engineering, product design, and manufacturing
• Managerial skills planning, organizing, and controlling to ensure quality and timely product engineering and implementation.
• Comfortable collaborating with key stakeholders to assure that design solutions are supported within function
• Ensure the product development process is followed and supported by best practices
• Demonstrate problem solving techniques that are applied in timely manner (risk identification and mitigation/conflict identification and escalation)
• Demonstrate the ability to evaluate system components and integration with supporting functions
• Foster cross-functional relationships (project management, design, product marketing, operations, etc.)
• Align or evaluate product and/or user requirements, insights for identification of project scope, and build the technical specifications, and evaluate the product accordingly
• Consult, advise, and solicit usage of appropriate technology, platforms, systems and frameworks, test methodology from team to advance product design.
• Demonstrate the ability to lead/own process improvement initiatives during development processes
Qualifications:
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 7 to 10 years experience preferred in PD&L
• Previous leadership experience required
