General Description (Summary description of the primary duties and objectives of the position.)
Sets up and operates one or more technical machines to produce precision parts/ products. Partners well with operators, Zone Leaders Operations Managers, programmers, Manufacturing Engineers and others to help complete production schedules & drive improvement. Responsible for ensuring these parts can not only be made precisely but can be produced with this level of accuracy repeatedly. Required to know how to operate, evaluate, and repair machines for overall equipment effectiveness. Works with part prints, tolerances, and use precision tools for measurement. Completes crash reports and follows processes precisely.
– Safeguard assets from theft and misuse. – Ensure segregation of duties to minimize fraud.
– Comply with business ethics, applicable laws and regulations. – Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.- Periodically reconcile physical assets to accounting records.
Requirements Profile (Competencies, skills, abilities, experience, education necessary.)
· Responsible for troubleshooting and recovery of machines and program issues (diagnose machine issues).
· Responsible to know assigned machines capability and functionality to ensure machines are running at optimal efficiency.
· Responsible for scheduling and performing preventative maintenance of machines and assisting maintenance with all repairs.
· Recover machines from error by restarting program including identification of root cause. Work with engineers to improve processes, machine up time, and equipment operation effectiveness.
· Required to track, identify, and communicate tool life expectancy and be able to complete tool changes.
· Responsible for maintaining & filling tooling carts. Required to know how to set up tooling.
· Responsible for tracking and completing the work generated from maintenance logs, notifications, and dialogue prompts including diagnostics for cleaning, inspection, lubrication, backing up hard drives, etc.
· Calibrates machines, performs tool testing and qualification including running test boards and spoil board resurfacing (will be required to complete part layout and determine next course of action from data).
· Work hand in hand with Operators, Zone Leaders, Operations Managers, Programmers, Engineers, and Maintenance to help complete production schedules, upkeep machines, and drive improvements.
· Good computer skills are a plus.
· Able to work standing constantly and with frequent bending and twisting.
· Able to occasionally lift 35 lbs. from floor to waist; lift 50lbs from waist to shoulders; and push / pull up to 15 lbs.
· Able to frequently carry 35-55 lbs.
· Able to occasionally grasp with moderate force.
· Required to read blueprints and use measuring tools (e.g. calipers, linear measuring machine, fixtures etc.) to ensure that parts are within quality specifications.
· Able to visually inspect for defects.
· Able to successfully complete specialized on the job training.
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Computer knowledge is required. Will be required to interface with computers, scanners, printers, and machine control screens.
· Past machine experience required
· Basic mathematical ability required
· Experience with CNC routers a plus
· Prior Steelcase Experience a plus
