Part-Time Tax Intern – Grand Rapids, MI

We are hiring a Tax Intern to work on a small, but close-knit Tax Team! The student hired in this position would get real-world experience preparing tax returns for Steelcase and their partner organizations. We are looking for a motivated student that is interested in pursuing Public Accounting.

What you will be doing:

• You will play an integral part in the tax team’s success.
• Participate in tax compliance activities
• Federal and State income tax returns
• Executing monthly sales tax responsibilities
• You will perform tax accounting activities by supporting quarterly tax provision computation
• You will support the income tax audit defense process
• Assist the team with Federal and State Income, State and Local Sales/ Use tax audit requests
• Evaluating and crafting documentation that supports audit results
• You will be an essential player in the digital transformation of the tax function
• Creating and managing dashboards and reporting with automation and visualization software (i.e., Tableau)

Qualifications:

• Preferred Year: Sophomore/ Junior (graduating between May 2022- May 2023) or 1st year Graduate Student (graduating Spring/ Winter 2022 or later.)
• Major: Accounting
• Exceptionally strong in Excel – advanced formulas and pivot table experience required
• Tableau or other data visualization software experience a plus! (but not required)
• This position is year-round. You will be working 15-20 hours (part-time) during the school year, and we are flexible and will work around your school schedule. You will work 40 hours per week in the summer (full-time).
• This role may start as a hybrid internship. Days in the office will be determined as Covid permissions and internal guidelines allow. And as time progresses, the hope is to return to working in the office at full capacity.
