The Weir Group Remote (US or Canada) Purpose of Role: The primary function of the Payroll Tax Specialist is to coordinate and maintain payroll tax compliance for our operations in the US and Canada. This role will support North America across multiple divisions and approximately 3000 union and non-union employees. Key Responsibilities: Monitor, assess impact of, and plan for implementation of legislative tax changes. Including monitoring and tracking ADP notifications as well as following payroll organizations tax updates. Responsible to ensure all employee and employer tax and workers compensation calculations are complete and accurate. Responsible to ensure that employee and employer set up in the payroll systems is compliant with legislation. Monitoring and validating the remittance of periodic tax funding when automated within the payroll system. Defining and actioning processes to support remittance and filings where not automated. Including Monthly, quarterly, annual processes In depth knowledge and process support of tax compliance for inpatriate and expatriate employee population. Includes processing of shadow payroll records, maintaining supporting records, and participating as key stakeholder with 3rd party of vendors managing inpatriate and expatriate employee movements. Maintain, develop, or assist in the creation of processes and reporting needed to support the function. Assist in the tax based reconciliations of the general ledger as needed Key stakeholder in the management of tax and workers Compensation Audit. Including pro-active record keeping, compliance, responses too, and interpretation and actions resulting from audit. Responsible for creating and maintaining procedures on how to perform standard fuctions within the role Respond to employee and business partner inquiries, through Service Now ticket system, delivering exceptional customer service Frequently administers non-standard payroll tasks Ensures work activities are consistent and running efficiently, discover inconsistencies, document, and communicate the need for changes Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above. Have the ability to perform work with a strong attention to detail and with a high level of accuracy and ability to meet strict deadlines. Effectively prioritize, organize, and process information between multiple people/systems. Has the ability to be flexible with new and changing responsibilities. Enjoys working in a collaborative team environment Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to individual and group audiences Certifications/Licenses not required. PCP/CPM certification in Canada or FPC/CPP certification in US or equivalent training is strongly preferred. Ability to have a flexible schedule to overlap with other team members, in multiple times zones across North America, with minimal global time zone considerations. Must have, or develop, a high level of experience with ADP Workforce Now , ADP Smart Compliance for payroll. Not required but desirable: Experience in Workday, HR Service Now, and/or other ADP products Proficient with MS office.
