Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Coordinator for Academic Affairs in Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering will provide customer service and address the needs of incoming students, current students, faculty and alumni associated with the Master of Engineering and Graduate Certificate in Engineering programs. This position will provide quality information and analysis services to inform planning, decision-making, student success, and institutional accountability. The position is an integral part of the Academic Affairs team within MAGE.
Duties and responsibilities may include the following: coordinate student intake for new, incoming students each semester and student success for all continuing students.Provide transitional guidance to students each semester concerning international student English course requirements and documentation, admission provision guidance, and all other non-coursework related graduate studies areas. Conduct regular surveys and assessments. Provide faculty services for the successful implementation of MAGE courses. Plan and facilitate faculty communications and meetings; both large-scale and within specific programmatic areas. Manage the proctoring process. Plan and execute student curricular and co-curricular programming, including MAGE Graduate Student Events, MAGE Lecture Workshops, and MAGE Alumni Events. Conduct alumni tracking and engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in higher education is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for special events.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment, prioritize tasks, think proactively, and work independently, using good judgment and experience to make decisions.
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and an innovative problem solver.
- Strong customer service, good judgment, and one who can work independently as well as in a team environment.
Preferences:
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a related field.
- Past experience at UMD, with knowledge of UMD technology, including Student Information System (SIS) or similar software packages.
- Preference for work experience in admissions, academic affairs, or student affairs, particularly for graduate programs.
- Excellent workshop/lecture/event planning.
- Proven strategies to build a positive rapport with students while assisting them in matriculating through the program and with faculty.

The salary range for this position is $49,600 to $62,000 annually.
