Job Description
Waltz Health is looking for a brilliant software engineer with a focus on Knowledge Engineering to own development of our core search capabilities. Curiosity and a desire to learn will be critical to success in this role. As a Cloud Application Engineer, you will be working very closely with Waltz leaders to build a market leading search capability which will be embedded across all of our current and future product lines.
You will work closely with our co-founder along with our top technology and business executives. This role is ideal for someone who is looking to make a meaningful contribution in healthcare and would like to be part of an exciting start up journey.
You will be reporting to the Sr. Director, Digital Applications. You will be in charge of:
- Owning development for Waltz Health’s knowledge engineering with a focus on search.
- Working across the technology and business organizations to ensure requirements are well understood such that we can have a continuous development roadmap
- Implementing self learning algorithms using past searches to continually improve the users’ search results
- Working closely with UI/UX teams to ensure search is always prominently positioned and easy to use
- Providing L3/L4 support for search as user issues are escalated
- Reviewing all customer feedback to enhance our ongoing roadmap
- Working with clients as required for custom requirements
In the first 90 days, you will:
- Learn the current implementation of Elastic
- Ensure roadmap items are well articulated for immediate enhancements – and can be developed
- Own and lead development of our production search capabilities
You will be successful because you have these traits and skills:
- 2+ years in software development with a focus on knowledge engineering and search.
- A track record of developing search based applications in production across high volume transaction environments
- Worked closely with product management teams to define and groom requirements
- A deep understanding of SQL database technologies (PostGres preferred)
- A deep understanding of market leading scripting technologies (Python preferred)
- Enthusiasm, positive attitude, and are hardworking.
- Flexible with job roles and responsibilities – ie be willing to jump into new projects and have a scrappy start-up mentality.
- A clear communicator who is comfortable working with all levels of the organization.
- Thrive working independently, autonomously, and can adapt to changing needs of a growing company.
- Able to think effectively, critically and creatively
- Live in the US and willing to travel
You have these qualifications:
- Bachelors in Computer Science (required)
- Masters (preferred)
- Exposure and fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Azure (preferred)
- Elastic search experience preferred
