POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Business Partner plays a key role in moving both processes and people forward. At the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, it is important that our Human Resources Team has the skills and abilities to effectively impact change and build a culture that is reflective of our association vision and values. It is our goal to achieve the following in partnership with key stakeholders:
• We are strategic business partners involved in the success of the organization.

• We serve as a consultant to leadership on human resources related issues.
• We serve as the team member’s champion.
• We lead people and culture and employee relations with assistance from legal resources and senior leaders.
• We build partnerships across the YMCA and HR functions to deliver value-added services to our team members. This position will support the following YMCA locations (subject to change):
• Eastern Shore Family YMCA (Home Location)
• Northampton County YMCA
• YMCA Camp Silver Beach DIVISION OF DUTIES:
• 50% – Recruiting, Onboarding, HR Administration/Reporting
• 30% – Culture Building, Employee Relations, Leadership Development
• 15% – Team Member Engagement, Special Projects & Activities
• 5% – Benefits Administration ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIORITIES:
The Human Resources Business Partner, in collaboration and coordination with members of the Human Resources Leadership Team, serves as a human resources generalist for their assigned region. This role is responsible for the recruitment oversight, team member development, positive employee relations, and onboarding for assigned family centers, while maintaining key support partnership across the association. We play a key role in helping to identify and develop the future leaders of our organization through recruitment and retention. Reporting a dotted line to a Vice-President of Operations and Executive Directors, the People & Culture Business Partner will serve as the key point of contact for staff and leaders for all human capital related items. Some of the objectives will include:
• Performs a wide range of duties relative to the maintenance and processing of personnel records and reports
• Assists in the Talent Acquisition Director in the hiring experience. Serve as an advocate of the candidate experience.
• Assists with Leadership Development Continuum and works in collaboration and coordination with other members of the Human Resources Leadership Team. Some activities may include:
• First 90 Days – Initial engagement
• Y-Mentorship – Second 90 Days
• Internships and College partnerships (as needed)
• Job Fairs (as needed)
• Cause-Driven Leadership certifications
• Executive Leadership Academy
• Coordination and scheduling of courses and training for staff development
• Assists the human resources/leadership development department in carrying out various tasks and processes, including but not limited to the following:
• Submits Criminal Record and Reference Checks
• Prepares, proofs and posts job requisitions on job board
• Responds to reference checks and verification of employment requests
• Maintenance and upkeep of employee files and Dayforce records
• Submits monthly drug testing requests to employees
• Assigns New Staff Orientation training to new hires and audits compliance of completion
• Supports and assists in the implementation of Culture and Engagement Initiatives, including periodic engagement and pulse surveys
• Prepares reports of organizational profile and demographics
• Maintains professionalism and confidentiality with all employment-related information
• Assists with various research projects and/or special projects
• Performs general HR administrative support and assistance to the Vice President of People & Culture
• Serves as the People & Culture Business Partner for Operations Leadership. Partners with operations leadership to achieve the following:
• Improve localized hiring and the onboarding experience for full-time and part-time team members
• Improve and drive positive employee relations at the local and regional level
• Assist with handbook administration and interpretation
• Timely completion and follow-up to team member investigations
• Lead and provide guidance related to performance management
• Partner with operations leaders in Dayforce HCMS schedule adherence and management
• Manage and provide oversight of compensation programs for centers
• Work with Director of Benefits in delivering a mental health & wellness experience for our team members
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

• Proficient in knowledge of company policies, and procedures.
• 4-year college degree preferred in human resources, labor/employee relations, organizational/leadership development or related field.
• Possess 3-5 years of experience in a human resources or administrative role.
• PHR or Management & Employee Relations professional designation preferred.
• Project and team management skills and experience.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment with associates.
• Ability to effectively plan and set priorities. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical, customer service, and presentation skills.
• Ability to become proficient in all forms of YMCA technology systems including Ceridian/Dayforce, Collabornation, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Google Email).
• Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance (both adopted and pending) affecting human resources compliance.
• Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Possess a high level of confidentiality and a strong commitment to the YMCA philosophy and values.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and to work in a fast paced office environment.
